This type specimen explores the evolution of Emigre’s Matrix (1984), compatible with the early Macintosh, into Matrix II (2007), designed for longevity. The project showcases both its historical applications and potential within contemporary Apple product design. By using a retro colour palette drawn from Apple’s 1980’s brand identity, alongside parchment textures and hand-binding, I have given the work an archival quality.

The final type specimen consists of a typebook publication and complementary iPhone package that merge past and present design languages.

Matrix II was designed by Zuzanna Licko and published at Emigre Fonts type foundry in 2007.
